the pic above basically sums up Apple at present

trying for the last 2 days to update my iPhone SE from 11.2.5 to iOS 11.2.6, all i get is a white screen with black Apple logo and bar under it saying how much of it is done.

FML, why did Apple release iOS 11? nothing but issues.

Apple has turned into the Microsoft of a decade or so ago; a complacent giant that doesn’t even try anymore.

4/5 devices updated ... last one doesn’t have room - 2 yrs old iPad mini. It’s sort of useful for shimming up a bookshelf at this point.

My iPads and 6s Plus work just fine on iOS 10 and I have seen no reason to “upgrade” to 11. I wish I could suppress the requests to update; I have a bunch of old apps that I use regularly and don’t want to give them up.

If you think Apple is a dumpster fire now, you’ve never owned an iPhone 5. The iPhone 5 was catastrophic in quality (well, lack of quality). To name a few issues:

- Rear camera wasn’t even remotely sealed, leading to immediate dust intrusion.

- 1st Generation Lightning port, while better than a 30-pin, suffered from poor reliability.

- High rate of battery failure less than a year in.

- Weak Antenna, leading to 4G hardly ever being used and you’d be lucky just to have 2G.

- First Generation Anodized Aluminum, scratched if you just looked at it the wrong way.

- Worst temperature sensitivity on the market, failing within 5 minutes at 30 degrees Fahrenheit and below.

Your SE is essentially an iPhone 5S with the improvements of an iPhone 6S. Thankfully you should be lucky enough not to experience any of those issues. Your lack of being able to update is an issue I’m not sure how to solve unless you have access to iTunes.

They’re mobile hardware is absolutely beautiful and generally really well engineered.

They’re mobile software is absolute steaming pile of garbage.

I can’t say that I’ve any of those issues with my 5 which I’ve had since Jan. 2013, save for the battery degrading quickly. Thankfully, that, and the power button failing were covered by recalls.

My battery is starting to show symptoms of degrading again though. I’m thinking it might be time to upgrade this year...

You’re lucky lol. Extreme amounts of dust accumulating in the rear camera was a bit of a plague for many users. :/

It’s not like mine was kept in a dust free environment, either. I can’t tell you how many times I had to clean dust out of the Lightning port or headphone jack to get them to work.
